This is Audra typing. I'm Zach's wife. I take about half the photos seen on this page, but I don't think many people know that. Recently I've been shooting more and more. I think it's important to learn something new everyday.
I don't want to be one of those photographers that gives everyone the same thing. I know sometimes you have to have those classic shots, but you want a little variety. Otherwise, why would they come back? They can't get the same photo on the same wall every year. Even as far as outdoor photos go. Who wants the same photo in the same spot. It might be fun for a quick reenactment, but I think for the most part, if people are paying for a full session, they should have something new each time. th
So I decided to challenge myself with an August photo challenge. To make things interesting,I google “August photo challenge.” I closed my eyes and clicked on one of the images that Google had brought up. Some of the things on this list will be fun: vintage, orange, animal, road, etc. Some things I’m not so excited about: the letter ‘T’, the number 22, a circle. I really have been trying to think about how to do those!
We will see! Today is the first day of the challenge and the first thing on my list is “vintage.” I decided to photograph myself with one of our vintage cameras. It’s a Yashica 124g from 1968. See how much I’m learning so far! Then I had to do a search for hair in 1968. I’ve seen that middle parts and hot rollers were making a comeback, so that worked out! I’m also hoping to edit these photos as well, but I am not an editor at all. Time to learn.
I might try to get our middle daughter’s photo with something antique we have, but those of you with middle daughters know that persuading them to do much of anything is a huge challenge! I want a photo challenge, but not a child challenge. We will see. I’m not opposed to bribery!
